There is a requirement to ensure that all our Security Operators receive at least one semi – annual update training on specific qualifications and operational procedures. United Guards Services participated in CYPNAVAL 2013 and presented latest updates and assessment of Maritime Security in Indian Ocean. CYPNAVAL 2013, simultaneously with CYPSEC 2013, was held from 28-29 May in Hilton Park Nicosia Hotel of Cyprus, with a great success and managing to bring together leading experts from the fields of defense and security, the offshore activities (such as the oil / gas), the vital coastal facilities (such as LNG / ports / marinas) and the Maritime, in order to contribute to strengthening cooperation between public authorities and the private sector in these fields, through the exchange of important information on technology, intelligence, innovation and to meet the challenges of security and defense. Security training has been in the agenda of GL Academy since the implementation of the ISPS Code. As piracy has become the most common threat of today’s shipping, the use of external providers for security services is an option for many shipowners. New requirements as well as the need to familiarize Security Personnel with the duties of the Ship Security Officer were the driving forces for United Guards Services Ltd, a maritime security services provider in Piraeus, to approach GL Academy Hellas for the organization of such training for their security personnel.
