UGS training system and methodology for our security operators incorporates a comprehensive and continuously evolving approach, consisting of land based – in our Training Centre – initial and enhanced refreshment training courses, as well as on the job training during the operations and under specific program. It is by now quite known that we, at United Guards Services, believe in the power of continuous and focused training.  Therefore we once more held a UGS Basic Training Course for new sec. operators in our Training Center facilities in Piraeus from 5 to 7 November 2014.Our trainees had the opportunity to have the necessary induction training, as well as full BMP-4 and anti piracy theory and practice, further enhanced in SOPs, rules for the use of force, legal aspects of maritime security, current regulations and operational updates and of course the firearms competency course. Piraeus, 15 November 2013: Advanced UGS Workshop – Maritime Security Theory and Practice

On November 15, United Guards Services facilitated and hosted an advanced Maritime Security workshop for its team leaders, members and executives. The workshop was delivered by Ioannis Chapsos, who is a Research Fellow in Maritime Security in Coventry University (United Kingdom). This useful workshop, among others, included discussion about contemporary threats to maritime security on worldwide basis, with a specific focus on piracy, its operational typology in regional terms and the applied strategies to counter it at international organizations’, states’ and private sector’s level. Finally, there was a broad interactive session where participants were given the opportunity to discuss legal, training, operational and ethical concerns, surrounding the globalised private security industry.

Τhe 5th Hydra Shipping Conference, took place in Hydra on Saturday, September 14th 2013.
