On November 15, United Guards Services facilitated and hosted an advanced Maritime Security workshop for its team leaders, members and executives. The workshop was delivered by Ioannis Chapsos, who is a Research Fellow in Maritime Security in Coventry University (United Kingdom).
This useful workshop, among others, included discussion about contemporary threats to maritime security on worldwide basis, with a specific focus on piracy, its operational typology in regional terms and the applied strategies to counter it at international organizations’, states’ and private sector’s level. Finally, there was a broad interactive session where participants were given the opportunity to discuss legal, training, operational and ethical concerns, surrounding the globalised private security industry.
